The guitar has been a mainstay of music for hundreds of years, and remains popular today. Our teachers use a proven, graded system that introduces the strings one at a time, and develops facility with note reading and harmony comprehension.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Piano

A piano is a work of art in itself, almost before a note is played. We have several piano teachers at the Academy and we use Alfred's method for beginners, moving into Royal Conservatory classical books for the intermediate and advanced students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Drums

 

Percussion begins with the rudiments, a set of formalised techniques that provide confidence and skill with simple and repeatable elements. Then the student moves on to more complex polyrhythms and sophisticated beats that prepare them for any situation - from hard rock to jazz.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vocals

 The human voice is the most dynamic and emotive instrument there is. Our vocal coach at the Academy provides students with an understanding of vocal techniques from the classical era, through to the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, guiding their own musical choices with experience and proven techniques to grow the range and control of the vocalist.
